11 months!

It's been a big month for Weston.  He is turning into quite the little daredevil and keeping everyone on their toes as he comes up with new and creative ways to injure himself.  He is much more adventurous that Elliot was at this age, willing to try out new things and wholeheartedly throw him self into situations.

Wes is making the transition to being an independently mobile young man.  He is REALLY fast when he crawls - often making it down the hallway before you even realize he is gone.  He also is increasingly stable on his feet.  He cruises easily, holding onto anything he can get his hands on and loves pushing around the tappy-bird-cart or anything that he can balance on.  While he walks effectively holding into two hands - he HATES not having control of where he is going and often lets go of people's hands to get down on the ground to be in control of where he is going.  He can balance on his own two feet without support and is really close to being able to walk by himself.

His new favorite game is called "put things in there" and consists of grabbing whatever small items may be around (blocks, food, dog toys) and finding something to put them in.  He is ENDLESSLY entertained by putting things in and out of other containers.  Its rather hilarious to watch.

Wes is very much a mamas boy. While Dad and Jessica, or even Grandparents, are acceptable in a pinch - its really mom whom he loves. He will throw himself out of people's arms when he sees her and make a beeline for her whenever he can.

Wes is definitely learning to talk.  He pretty reliably says "hi" when people come into the room and pretty convincingly says "mama", "dada" and "Elliot".  While he hasn't yet mastered sign language and hasn't yet strung together words - he did seem to say "hi dad" when Mac walked into a room a few days ago.

Riding in the car continues to be a bit of a challenge.  He often screams for a majority of any car ride - we thing from a mixture of boredom and a desire to be out and moving.   This, thankfully, didn't really extend to the trips to and from Hawaii this month.  While he was a handful to keep entertained on the plane - he did pretty well and even took a few naps on the plane.

He continues to love the water - splashing away merrily every time he can get in the bath, hot tube or kiddie pool.  During the Cook family vacation to Hawaii - Wes was out in the ocean on a Boogie board, floating around, surfing the waves (with support) and absolutely having the time of his life!!  Nothing but smiles, even when the waves were splashing him in the face!

Wes likes:
- crawling around all over the place
- standing up and trying to balance
- Mom
- splashing in the water
- WATERMELON!!
-Hi fives

Wes doesn't like
- riding in the car
- being away from mom
- when he is constrained and can't walk/crawl to where he wants to go
- being hungry (buddy boy has the HANGER!)
- spicy foods

New skills
- crawling like a madman
- standing up and cruising around
- pushing his hard with minimal support
- improving language
