Its been a busy start to 2017, with lots of changes coming this year. January brought winter adventures with a trip to Leavenworth, Washington and a parents only trip to Olympic national park.
Leavenworth, WA is a Bavarian town in the middle of the Cascade Mountains of Washington. We went during there Ice Festival with lots of ice sculptures, games, pretzels. We fell in love with the family "Smooshing Competition" and vowed we would be back to compete when the kids were old enough. We ate more pretzels, sausage and beer for Mac than we every had before, going with the Bavarian theme. We also greatly enjoyed cross country skiing, Elli immediately feel asleep when she got in her Chariot all bundled up.
Later in the month Grandma Weis came to town to care for Elli while mom and dad had a babymoon to the Olympic National Park. Unfortunately, Crystal got the flu and spent most of the weekend with a 102 degree fever. That didn't stop her though, we still were able to hike in the rainforest of the park, go to Hurricane Ridge, and enjoy our cute little micro-house cabin we had rented. The best part of our weekend escape during the flu was that Elli and Grandma didn't get sick!
Later in the month we had our second trimester ultrasound. Everything checked out great. We were ecstatic to learn that we are having a boy! Elli will be a big sister to a little brother! Mac had tried to say that he didn't care boy or girl, but when he bit into that cupcake with the blue center frosting, his face and reaction said otherwise! His grin was ear to ear!
In February Crystal had a girls weekend in AZ and Grandma/Grandpa Cook came to town to take care of Elli. They had a great time exploring and enjoying all Elli's new developments. They were even able to make a trip to Bainbridge Island to the Children's museum where Elli decided she wanted to grocery shop, while being a mom and a firefighter. Quite the modern women!
Elliot is now 22 months. Her language has EXPLODED! 2-3 word sentences, repeating EVERYTHING ( mom and dad need to watch there language). She is becoming quite independent and can set the table, follow directions, and has a mind of her own. She loves to play in her play kitchen and with her stuffed animals and dolls, some things really are nature rather than nurture.

-Playing with her dolls and stuffed animals, putting them to bed

Elliot is not a fan of:
-Brushing her teeth
-Being forced to do anything
