Maternity Photos!

Mac and I are truely blessed to have some amazing friends and family who have supported us through starting our family! .

The lovely and talented Katana Triplett was generous and kind enough to do Maternity photos for our Baby Shower gift. What a HUGE gift! Photo shoots with Katana are always fun, she knows us, gets our humor, and laughs it off when Mac can't take anything seriously. Well....she out did herself! They are amazing and we couldn't be happier. We took the photos at 37 weeks so I was already HUGE! Luckily the swelling hadn't kicked in that week yet.

Awaiting Baby Cook #2

I had a lot of fun decorating the nursery!  This was right up my alley.  Since we don't know if we will be in Portland in a year and a half, we didn't want to buy a lot of furniture and baby gear.  Ikea and craigslist were my best friend!  We are very happy with how it turned out, even the dogs think it is a relaxing place to hang out!

Madison likes her new hand rest.

Cooper thinks there is room for him as well.

As time progressed, working became harder and harder.  I stopped working in the ER at about 37 to 38 weeks as the kankles and edema set in!

Baby shower

My lovely family and friends held a baby shower for me back in Wisconsin March 2015.  It was amazing to be surrounded by family and friends with all the love and support.  It was a wonderful day.  The next morning I took grandma Weis in for her hip replacement!!

Awaiting Baby Cook

Mac and I were ecstatic to find out we were expecting in May 2015.

I found out right before I went to a night shift in the ER.  Luckily it was a slow night, since I spent the whole night thinking about how I was going to tell Mac.  When I got home the next morning I stopped at the bakery and bought a bun...a single bun.  I woke Mac up with a cup off coffee demanding we go to breakfast at 7 am on a Saturday.  I told Mac there were some pasteries in the oven for him to eat.  Needless to say he was confused for a few minutes before he realized there was a "bun in the oven."

We were lucky to have a relatively uneventful pregnancy.  Just the usual back pain, nausea, ect.

One of the most exciting moments was finding out if we were having a boy or a girl.  We went to a bakery and had them put pink or blue filling in cupcakes for the gender reveal.  Unfortunately...the bakery somehow ended up with a purple color filling.  Mac thought it was pink, I thought it was blue.  We had to open the ultrasound envelope to find out for sure that Baby Cook was indeed a girl!

Welcome!

Welcome! Mac and I have set up this blog as a way to chronicle our family life and adventures. Rather than send emails, making photo books, baby books, ect we figured we can use the blog to keep track of big moments and pictures, then simply print the blog! We will see if this is as simple as it sounds. We have welcomed our friends and family to follow along. As most of you know Mac and I met in college at Cornell University and had many on and off years through college and medical school being long distance. After moving to Oregon for residency together we got married 8.4.2012 with the beautiful Mt Hood in the background and our family/friends at our sides. We live in Portland, OR currently and share our lives with 2 CRAZY dogs, Madison and Cooper. We are also looking forward to welcoming "Baby Girl Cook" VERY soon. Starting a family has definitely been the spark to start the blog with family being so far away and things changing with infants so fast! Our due date is rapidly approaching, May 9!  So welcome on our wild ride starting a family!
